Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Man with Van Brixton in respect of our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking risks within our business and among those who supply goods and services to us. We are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard the rights and dignity of all people connected to our activities.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man with Van Brixton provides transport, removals, and associated logistical services. Our operations rely on a combination of in-house personnel, subcontracted drivers, vehicle hire providers, fuel suppliers, equipment suppliers, and occasional use of temporary labour agencies. We recognise that certain areas of our industry, particularly subcontracted labour and outsourced services, can carry a heightened risk of labour exploitation and poor working conditions, including forced labour and human trafficking.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We operate a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, servitude, and forced or compulsory labour. This policy applies to every aspect of our business and to everyone working for or on behalf of Man with Van Brixton, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers.
No form of coercion, debt bondage, withholding of personal documents, or intimidation is acceptable in our operations or supply chain. We expect all suppliers to comply with relevant labour laws, provide fair working conditions, offer transparent terms of employment, and respect the right of individuals to freely choose their work and to leave their employment in line with legal notice requirements.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and subcontractors who share our ethical values. All new suppliers are assessed against standards that include compliance with labour legislation, prohibition of forced labour, fair pay practices, and safe working conditions. We seek contractual assurances that suppliers do not knowingly engage in, or benefit from, modern slavery or human trafficking.
Man with Van Brixton undertakes proportionate supplier audits and reviews, prioritising higher-risk categories such as labour providers, subcontracted drivers, and vehicle or equipment contractors. These audits may include requesting documentation on employment practices, verifying worker age and identity checks, reviewing health and safety arrangements, and assessing grievance mechanisms available to workers. Where concerns are identified, we work with suppliers to agree corrective action plans and timeframes. Failure to address serious issues or persistent non-compliance may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Training, Awareness, and Responsibilities
Managers and staff with responsibility for procurement, recruitment, and contractor management are made aware of the risks of modern slavery and the signs that may indicate exploitation. Responsibilities for overseeing our anti-slavery measures sit with senior management, who ensure that appropriate controls are in place and that this statement is implemented in practice.
We encourage an open culture where ethical concerns can be raised without fear of reprisal. Everyone working for Man with Van Brixton is expected to support our efforts to identify and address potential modern slavery risks.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Any employee, worker, contractor, or third party who suspects that modern slavery, human trafficking, or related exploitation may be occurring in connection with our business is strongly encouraged to report their concerns. Concerns can be raised directly with a line manager or a senior manager within Man with Van Brixton. Reports may be made confidentially, and we will take all such concerns seriously.
We will investigate all reports promptly and, where appropriate, take steps that may include engaging with the relevant supplier, suspending work, notifying appropriate authorities, and supporting affected individuals. We will not tolerate any victimisation or retaliation against a person who raises a concern in good faith.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Man with Van Brixton is committed to continuously improving our approach to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking. We review our supplier standards, risk assessments, and internal procedures on a regular basis to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the risks in our industry and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed at least annually by senior management. As part of this review, we consider any reported incidents, changes in legislation, shifts in risk profiles, and feedback from staff and suppliers. Where necessary, we update our policies, contractual requirements, training materials, and audit processes to strengthen our response and to promote best practice throughout our operations.
By maintaining a robust zero-tolerance policy, applying meaningful supplier checks, providing clear reporting channels, and committing to regular review, Man with Van Brixton aims to play an active role in the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
